In recent years TAs have been in increasing demand from schools. The primary role of a TA is to support the teacher with their daily activities in the classroom. These duties vary, but general tasks include:
- Help the teacher plan & prepare the lesson, and to assist them through the lesson activity.
- Telling children stories & listening to them read.
- Assisting & helping individual children who need extra support.
- Overseeing & getting involved in group activities.
- Assisting with group outings and school trips.
- Playing with the children, and using this as a tool to encourage learning.
- Some basic admin tasks
If you want to become a TA, above all else, you must enjoy working with children. This requires high levels of energy and a good sense of humour! You must be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Teaching assistant work is an excellent way to see what it is like to be a teacher.
If you are interested in becomming one of our TAs, then please submit your CV via our registration page.
Please include names and contact details for at least 2 referees so that we can apply for the references before your interview and secure you work sooner.
